A Small BeginningMuted sunlight filtered through the blue
curtain I’d used to cover the window
a desperate attempt to keep
my workspace dark. A pen held
shakily in my right hand.
I used my left to cover a yawn.

Three days without sleep and counting. I didn’t
need to look in a mirror to know
I looked like hell- eyes bloodshot from far
too little sleep, hair sticking out at angles
despite my attempts to straighten the locks,
clothes rumpled, creased, stained.
I hadn’t changed since I sat down to write-

the picture of the struggling author.
A hill of loose leaf paper stacked
high on my desk, a mountain of crumpled sheets overflowing
the over-sized waste basket. All the times
I had yet to start, all the attempts that had failed. I slam
my hand down against my desk,

in my weary state, it hardly makes a sound. I push
away from my desk, the swivel chair gliding
effortlessly across the hardwood floor. How I wished
my thoughts would glide
so easily from my brain to

Alternate Title: I have too many OCs to fit on one page so here are the ones I liked best/thought of first.

Anyone remember this

? No? oh well. I did. Drew it a little over two years ago, when I was just starting to solidify a style of artwork I could call "mine". I've progressed since then (if not by much) and I figured the best way to bench mark my progress was to redraw something I've done before, so on a day when I was SUPER UBER BORED, I drew this. The sketch is almost five months old and has been sitting in my sketchbook waiting for me to pull it out and color it. This week I was finally bored enough to do it!

I am really really really proud of this. It turned out so much better than I could ever have hoped.
