Linden Karran

Decided it was high time I created the offspring of one of my favorite pairings as a way to get me hyped to write another installment of "Shadows of the Past" otherwise known as "that one pokemon story I was writing, but haven't done anything with in years".

This is Linden Karran, the oldest son of Justin and Sam. He's a fairly laid back guy with an aversion towards aggression and violence and a huge soft spot for all kinds of pokemon. When he was a young teenager, he showed little interest in training pokemon, preferring to befriend them on a more personal level than that of a Trainer. Of his two parents, Justin was frustrated that his son lacked the passion he believed he was capable of while Sam was content to let her son be so long as he was doing what he wanted. It was several years before Justin realized his son's "lack of passion" wasn't that at all, Linden was just directing it in a different direction than he was expecting because Linden didn't want to be a trainer- he wanted to be a ranger. Skilled to an almost psychic level, Linden was able to communicate with many pokemon given enough time to develop a friendship with them, but he was not able to translate that friendship into a strong trainer/pokemon dynamic. It was, however, brilliant for ranger work which required working closely with pokemon companions rather than battle partners. That being said, he's not useless in a fight and can give his pokemon orders when necessary.

He has a very strong sibling bond with his younger sister, Aika, but a more distant relationship with his youngest sister, Vivienne, because of their large gap in ages. (Aika is just a year younger than him while Vivienne is almost 10 years younger) He's close to both his parents- Sam more so because of her easy acceptance of who he is, though his relationship with Justin has vastly improved since his teen years.

Linden wears a fairly standard Ranger uniform with only a few alterations to make the vest and pants more functional which means he lacks a bag, backpack, or satchel for his supplies. This makes him more mobile than other Rangers in a pinch. It can also leave him in tight spots if his limited supplies don't perfectly match his situation. This has made him a master of making things up on the fly with whatever is around him. Currently Linden is a Top Ranger working predominately without a human partner, preferring the company of Pokemon. His partner is a Growlithe, named Fiero, who is also the son of Justin's Arcanine. Linden goes everywhere with Fiero, which is another reason he doesn't usually carry a backpack- because Growlithe can't cover all the terrains a Ranger needs to, Linden puts him in a backpack when traversing these areas. Fiero also wears a pair of goggles when flying.
