Moon and Stars Cover Textless

For those of you wondering what on God's Green Earth I could be doing with those two silly meme-created "sonas"... look no farther!

Dan and I are currently working on a story we are calling "The Moon and Stars: Shades of the Nightmare". I'm not sure when the first chapters will be posted as Dan is working solely on the writing aspect, but I will post links lower in the description once he's begun posting either here on dA or over on FimFiction where he does most of his posting these days.

As for the artwork itself- holy cow. I don't think I've spent so much time coloring anything as I did with this. And I didn't do any shading! Because of the nature of the story, I thought it'd be really fun to make a stained glass window as the cover. There are SO many characters I wanted to have included, but I decided to keep it simple and pick the five most important: At the top is Princess Luna. Just beneath her to the right is a batpony named Feywind. To Feywind's left and slightly lower is a pegasus named Valkyrie. Beneath them and on equal level are Sweet Dreams on the left and Knight Vision to the right. Between them is a water drop shaped gemstone called "Tears of the Moon" that is slowly beginning to change color on the bottom. Around the edges of the window and behind the characters are the phases of the moon from new moon at the bottom middle to the full moon up top and back around again.

There's some interesting foreshadowing and even downright spoilers here so I'll end my detailed description there.

I am very happy with how the whole thing came out. I was worried for a while about the stained glass appearance, but I think I did well over all. I had intended for each piece of glass to be a different color... but it started looking weird so I took most of that effect out, though you can still see it plenty in the background, the gemstone, and the various manes and tails. I kinda lazed out on the back-background behind the glass, but... bleh. I couldn't think of anything better XD
